As we approach UK Column’s 20th Anniversary event, we re-visit our archives from the last two decades to bring you some of our best videos and interviews.
In 2014, UK Column received a letter from the Authority for Television On Demand (ATVOD). It was a subsidiary of Ofcom, the UK Government’s communications regulator, until it closed in 2015.
The letter gave notice that, as the result of an amendment to the 2003 Communications Act, UK Column was required to notify them it was running an ‘on-demand programme service’, pay a fee, and submit to regulation.
Brian Gerrish and Mike Robinson would have none of it. They found some ingenious ways to beat the ATVOD bullies.
These three short and humorous videos — ‘ATVOD Exposed’, ‘UKC Goes Wireless’, and ‘UKC at the Seaside’ — show Mike and Brian's unique take on the issue. (Longstanding viewers may also spot former UK Column employee Louise Collins making a guest appearance).
