Meeting by the River – (substitute the Ganges for the Euphrates ?.. 😉 ). The music is both amazing and tense.
I was going to post the original LP track, but the TV version was so much more fun.21st March 2018 at 12:06 am #16433
Lay by your pleading, law lies a-bleeding
Burn all your studies down, and throw away your reading
Small power the word has, and can afford us
Not half so much privilege as the sword does
It’ll the foster the master, plaster disaster
This’ll make a servant quickly greater than the master
Ventures, enters, seeks and it centres
Ever the upper hand, never a dissenter
Kruger, Krugerrand-a, whither do you wander?
Gone to the suborning of Hastings Banda
Kruger, Krugerrand-a, tear you all asunder
Beira to Luanda, Gabarone to Nyanga
Talks of small things, it sets up all things
This’ll master money, though money masters all things
It is not season to talk of reason
Never call it loyal when the sword says treason
Balm for the worrier, the whaler, the furrier
This’ll get the measure of a Rainbow Warrior
Incognito, come and sink a Rainbow
President will never know, I should bloody coco
Subtle deceiver, turns calm to fever
See the pilgrim flay the unbeliever
It’ll make a lay man, preach and to pray man
It’ll make a Lord of him that was but a drayman
Conquers the crown too, grave and the gown too
Set you up a province, but it’ll pull it down too
No gospel can guide it, no law decide it
In church or state, till the sword sanctified it
Take books, rent ’em, who can invent ’em?
When that the sword says there’ll be no argumentum
Blood that is spilt, sir, has gained all the guilt, sir
Thus have you seen me run my sword up to the hilt, sir21st March 2018 at 12:20 pm #16445
Oh isn’t it true what small can do
With a thread and a thought and a stitch or two.

It’ll be a long time before this one becomes irrelevant.22nd March 2018 at 6:56 pm #1650822nd March 2018 at 7:37 pm #16514
I see you found the ‘relevant’ thread @simon-k … ;-D
This one’s relevant to the Fluoride news (see NHS & Health Forum), and the ‘Climate Change and Weather Modification’ Forum, and much more ..22nd March 2018 at 8:08 pm #16517
I guess this one inevitably had to be done at some point:22nd March 2018 at 8:14 pm #1651822nd March 2018 at 8:23 pm #16519
Ah, never mind, play on words (excuse my obscure references, I do that a lot). Just thought your last was more relevant to the poetry/qoutation thread.
Cheers chap !
Edit: It was very good though ! Thanks.22nd March 2018 at 8:34 pm #16520
Ah, I get it.
In my opinion, poetry is a form of music. It creates its own music: rhythm, cadence, melody etc.22nd March 2018 at 9:51 pm #16523
Used to be a Rollins fan. Not so much these days.
But this was an old side-project with bass-player Andy Weiss & some well-programmed drum-machine. Essential.

Surveillance in Digital-Sugar-Coat.
Amazing video & concept/tune. I won’t spoil the fake nice ending.;-)
Best taken with headphones, or big speakers, and a healthy dose of cynicism..23rd March 2018 at 9:07 am #16543
