"Lazy" Whitehall Civil Servants To Face Sack

For the first time, Civil Servants' jobs could be at risk as a result of their "performance".

In the initiative being led by Francis Maude's Cabinet Office, the overhaul of Whitehall Civil Servants is to be unveiled next month.

Francis Maude claims that Civil Servants are themselves "frustrated and concerned" that "the worst performers" face no action while those that work hardest do not receive the recognition they deserve.

This statement seems at odds however, with the performance related bonus culture at Whitehall, where bonuses of as much as £187,500 were handed out on top of annual salaries this year.

Firemen Seagulls and Behavioural Change

On 13 April 2012 Daily Mail Columnist Richard Littlejohn scornfully reported that aside from an incredible 5 fire appliances attending the scene, 25 Firemen were stopped from entering a 3 feet deep pond to rescue a Seagull in distress because of "elf'n'safety" rules.

Littlejohn commented that:

The relentless march of political interference and the institutionalised insanity of elf’n’safety has turned firefighters into figures of ridicule and derision.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development if predicting that Britain will fall back into recession this quarter.

George Osborne on the other hand, says we won't. Commenting on the OECD forecast, he said:

This is a forecast... Our own forecast from our own independent body, which we published last week, says we are going to avoid a recession.

Our own independent body?

What planet is this man on? How can any body be "our own" and "independent" at the same time?

So, at last you are all starting to see me for what I really am. You lot thought I was ineffectual, weak, empty headed and devoid of all personality. You probably thought I was some kind of soulless clone. You were right, but I am also absolutely determined to do what I’m told. As soon as Ken gets his whips out, I know what I must do.

But I am getting mighty hacked off by the speed that my MPs are willing to act. Don’t they appreciate who we are all working for? If they did, they’d work harder, I can tell you. Austin Mitchell has it absolutely right when he calls them “mundane hacks” not fit to be at Westminster. They’re going to get a shock. Because if we don’t succeed in meeting the targets I have been set, they will be right there in the camps with you lot. These idiots don’t know what’s good for them.

BBC Given Free Reign To Continue Blatant Propagandising

The UK Supreme Court has upheld the refusal by the BBC to release information under the Freedom of Information Act, on the basis that it is exempt when that information is held for the purposes of "journalism, art or literature", even when the information is also used for other purposes.

The case was brought by a UK based solicitor, Steven Sugar, who had wanted the BBC to release the Balen Report, an internal report into the BBC's coverage of the Middle East. Mr Sugar had claimed that the BBC was biased against Israel.

Towards a City of God

For many observant Christians, 2012 is a year of deep trepidation, a time in which the realisation of biblical prophecies of the “end times” is widely feared to begin in earnest. And yet, in the confusion and educational paucity of our times, much of the true history of western civilisation from the birth of Christ and days of the patristic fathers, through the rise and decline of Rome, its resurrection in the Byzantine, later Anglo-Dutch (Venetian) Empires, and finally to current history in the era of 21st Century “globalisation”, remains murky at best to the majority of self described biblical scholars.

All preceding ages, without knowing it or aiming at it, have striven to bring about our human century. Ours are all the treasures which diligence and genius, reason and experience, have finally brought home in the long age of the world. Only from history will you learn to set a value on the goods from which habit and unchallenged possession so easily deprive our gratitude; priceless, precious goods, upon which the blood of the best and the most noble clings, goods which had to be won by the hard work of so many generations!

The news today that Martin Smith has hanged himself in his prison cell has both shocked and saddened us.

The news today that Martin Smith has hanged himself in his prison cell has both shocked and saddened us. In a way, we should not be shocked. Martin had made it clear that he would kill himself if he got the chance, and it saddens us that we could not do more to help him.

The stories in today’s media were disgraceful. Full of vitriol; painting Martin as a heinous, perverted paedophile, they destroy his memory while at the same time heaping praise on the disgusting system which permitted the miscarriage of justice that branded Martin with those labels.

The Republican Party Presidential campaign could well be described as the best street theater since Punch and Judy.

As ever, it is a mixed bag of outright racists, homophobes, warmongers, religious demagogues and, last but not least, private equity carpetbaggers. Only libertarian leaning Dr Ron Paul, who is enjoying solid and surging support amongst young and independent voters, could be described as a remotely honest and genuine candidate for what is otherwise a pretty good advertisement for national suicide.

Russians Highlight Obama's Adoption of Cheney's "Prompt Global Strike" Strategy

On the 23rd December, two leading Russian analysts wrote an article for Nezavisimoye Voyennoye Obozreniye (Independent Military Review), highlighting that not only is Obama not abandoning the Bush Administration's PGS platform, but building on it.

The article (in Russian) describes Obama's strategy as:

A global layered US defence system is an integral part of a new triad: Missile Defence-Precision Weapons-Nuclear Weapons, which integrates within a single system of nuclear and conventional offensive assets, active and passive defence, and a flexible infastructure that supports their rapid buildup ... Readers of my articles in the UK Column over recent years may have puzzled at the long silence. Without boring you with the details, let it be said that a tactical retreat is not to be confused with capitulation, but part of a wider strategy.

Notwithstanding tactics, all that was pertinent with respect to the economic and political situation as it stood at the time my last article went to print, had already been said. It therefore only remained to wait for the next major phase shift in the situation before summoning the inspiration to offer a genuinely new perspective.

Such a phase shift has now occurred.

Climate Change Alarmism: - A Common Purpose Of The Political Elite?

Those readers who have been following my One World Governance series of articles will recall that in Part 5 I highlighted the fact that both David Cameron and Nick Clegg claimed that the new Liberal Democrat / Conservative administration was underpinned by a common purpose. In Part 8 I presented evidence that many MPs were also Members of the All Party Parliamentary United Nations Group and, additionally, that Vince Cable had helped to produce the Brundtland report Our Common Future which launched the concept of 'sustainable development'.

Following the failure to reach binding Treaty agreements amongst the Nations attending the Cop 15 Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in November 2009 UK Column readers have probably already noted that media coverage of the 2010 COP 16 Conference in Cancun, Mexico was surprisingly low key. In fact the Wikileaks affair and the tuition fees protests might be viewed as yet another deliberate media attempt at public distraction.

British Media: Bending The Truth?

Despite the volume of evidence that I have already presented in relation to the organisation, Common Purpose, one issue is becoming increasingly clear - The British Media generally neglects to inform the British public of its' activities and has also failed to educate its' readership in relation to the the United Nations Agenda 21 programme.

Dark Actors Playing Games

Francis Maude MP, Minister for the Cabinet Office is a man of many characters - tough Conservative policy maker, champion of public sector transparency, behind the scenes Tory change agent and moderniser, dubious businessman and friend of the middle aged woman with the basket.

Above all Maude has nailed his personal and political colours to the mast of transparency in government. He recently stated

Transparency is at the heart of the Government's programme, which is why the Cabinet Office, at the heart of government, is taking the lead. All departments will open up their data in the weeks ahead.
