I grew up in Consett and left school in the 80's just as Maggie closed down the steel works. Thousands unemployed overnight and a dole queue that stretched 2 abreast for an hour and a half shuffling to collect 15 quid.
They were interesting times and I witnessed the collapse of a whole generation who still struggle today. I know guys now in their 40's who never managed to fulfill any ambition. Today we have a far worse senario than even then and todays youngsters have a future of more mysery. We have to change our thinking... this crap has to stop!
In my posts i will talk mostly about 'Resource Based Economy' in an attempt to stimulate debate on what I percieve to be our only future.
With much respect - David
