He’s a student of Richard Bandler. Some facts you should know about him. 1) He worked for the CIA. 2) He was a cocaine addict. 3) In a murder trial where he was accused of murdering a prostitute at his house, an unknown lady walked into he court half way through the case and picked up a pile of papers. No one knew who she was but it was soon discovered they were the entire papers for the case and the case was subsequently dismissed. Another time he caused controversy when he was teaching some students about NLP, pulled a gun from his pocket, stuck it to their heads, and asked them if they believed he would not pull the trigger as a kind of psychological demonstration of what he was teaching. I am a certified NLP-instructor. I was introduced to the term in 1989 and I have worked with the methodologies ever since. NLP is basically a synthesis of three things: 1. the study of the structure of subjective experience. 2. Tools and methodologies that are natural consequence of the implications from part 1. (communication skills, hypnosis, anchoring, reframing, sorting, modeling etc ). 3. A set of assumptions that empower the user. Like any sharp tool. NLP can be used to do good and it can be used to manipulate.

I understand that as NLP has become more and more known in the world - since 1972 - that a number of users have taken the skills to manipulate - This is not new. Communication has been used to manipulate ever since the first psychopath learned to speak.

It is interesting to note that NLP does not take up the issue of the nature of human consciousness. It does, however, give the user the ability to make this discovery if so inclined. Along with other research that also includes subjective experience as part of the legitimate evidence for research (near death experiences) it can be shown with scientific methodology that consciousness is not bound to the brain, nor created by it. It is spirit in nature and does not die when consciousness leaves the body.

This knowledge opens doors that could enhance the collective stat of our human condition - because the rules of the game are entirely different than we have been led to believe. After 18 years of working with over 14,000 clients and extensive use of hypnosis you may be happy to discover that you can move past blind faith which religions have bound us down with, and science that says you are a biological accident.

I underwent counseling some years ago regarding some personal issues. My counselor used NLP, which evidently has some connection with General Semantics — he at any rate was rather surprised when he heard me use the phrase “the map is not the territory,” and I was somewhat surprised when I saw it in an NLP text that he lent me. At any rate, counseling with NLP is rather interesting: you sit around and make small talk, such as about the weather, while the counselor makes weird little hand gestures.

He also used EMDR, which is remarkable; with that, it is quite possible to recover very old memories, such as the white tennis shoes I was wearing on a certain day when I was four years old.

The point is, of course, that this sort of thing can be used either for good or for ill, and in between. It’s interesting to look at footage of Hitler’s speeches; his hand motions are remarkable, especially when you consider the fact that normal German body language is neither extravagant nor greatly demonstrative.

We are all now told that the three health demons of 21st century society are alcohol, smoking and obesity’. To take but one example: official documentation claims that ‘smoking behaviour is unsustainable’.

To blame the humble cigarette for a variety of health issues whilst ignoring air pollution, asbestos etc has the effect of creating new opportunities for some. A close male relative of Baby P was feared to have recruited youngsters in care for a notorious paedophile ring, according to a secret report seen by The Mail on Sunday.

Although he is not believed to have had any contact with Baby P, his involvement in a child abuse scandal in Islington, North London, in the early Nineties raises questions on the extent of checks into Baby P’s background.

‘The family should have been subjected to forensic examination,’ said a child protection expert.

‘Even cursory checks would have rung alarm bells. Social workers might then have removed the baby, as a paediatrician and police pleaded.’

The relative was named in reports as a victim and a feared recruiter of children for pimps.

In the early Nineties he was put in a children’s home.

At the time, all 12 of Islington’s then homes, and at least one of the boarding schools it used, had been infiltrated by paedophiles.

The relative, then a frightened 13-year-old, was under the control of three pimps - Alan, John and George - who persuaded him with money, drugs and threats to bring other children to them.

He tried in vain to blow the whistle and protect himself and other children.

He gave social workers the names of others ferried from the homes to, he said, Manor Park, Tottenham, Soho and Westminster to ‘be buggered by old men’.

But none of the men were placed under surveillance or questioned.

Several social workers and managers fought hard to get help for the boy and other children targeted by the paedophiles.

Social worker Neville Mighty was deputy superintendent of Islington’s then unit at 18 Highbury Grove, where pimps slept overnight.

His boss claimed such men were simply ‘boyfriends’ and said Mighty was a prude to repress the children’s sexuality.

Mighty, who had received death threats, had named the relative in a report pleading with Islington’s then director of children’s services, Lyn Cusack, for help.

Ms Cusack, married to a senior policeman, did nothing save threaten disciplinary action because Mighty was ‘rude’. Eventually, in June 1992, Mighty was sacked.

Liz Davies, the senior Islington social worker who encouraged Mighty to go public, said: ‘We got too close. There were too many powerful people involved. Child sex, pornography and sadism are extremely lucrative industries.’

In 1994, a damning independent report criticised the failure of police and social workers to help the relative and to help protect children in care in Islington.

Sure, its a little like a pyramid scheme. Actually the sociology of religion research stream says its a bit like some of the religions of the far East that pay homage to a lineage of gurus. The religiosity is a bit like scientology, but just more of an implied religiosity, and partly because of their beliefs (presuppositions).

The mind-control stuff is just the same as any other such group. The mind control doesn’t come from NLP. It comes from the basic social psychology tricks you get in any cult; suppression of criticism, pseudoscientific wild claims, setting up enemies, setting up anti-science conspiracy theories, and so on.

There may be a few NLP techniques they use that screw you up also (eg dissociative state techniques). But its mostly just bunk rituals and social pressure.

Any power Mandelson has is due to real social influence and clever political wrangling. If one of his ex writers is into NLP, then that probably explains why they are an ex.

There is much worse to come. They seem to be obsessed by tunnels around the new builds in these schools. The funding actualy gives incentive for these acadamies to shut down all schools around them…They get loads of dosh and don’t have to declare it all. They are in control of setting up ‘independant’ tribunals should parents complain, basical these acadamies can do what the hell they like. It is privatisation through the back door, and the acadamies dont even need to take orders from the government.

lol. First off id like to thank you guys I read this column last night after a day of train delays, bus delays and a mega headache, but after reading this my headache misteriously disappeared, now seeing i cant pin point which comment had the desired affect, ill give credit to you all..so thank you.

To make this a discussion board rather than a one sided assault on NLP, and individuals Id like to make some comment if I will.

Seeing you have all shown great investigative skills, Im sure you are all aware that NLP was started in the early 70’s by two guys named Richard Bandler and John Grinder, after modelling (finding out a strategy for what people do skillfully) initially world class therapists, most famously Milton Erickson (hypnotherapy) & Virginia Satir (family therapy), both therapists in the nature of helping people, not manipulators like Hitler or cult leaders, which Im sure they would have opted for If their intention was to have better manipulation skills.

The truth is the vast majority of people that go into NLP do so because they want to use skills to help other people or themselves or use it in business as an ADDITION to skills they already have, for example goal setting, seeing other peoples point of view (which yes does involve using dissassociative states Liam george). However there are people that can use NLP as a form of manipulation, just like I can use a steak knife to cut into my juicy bit of tender steak or I can use it to stab it in your face…same tool, very different intents.

Now if anybody know the theory of the six degrees of separation you will know that theoretically you can link anyone in the world by around 6 people, so yes if you hunt long enough you will see a link to anyone (if you do decide to invesitgate if you can see how i can be link up to jessica Alba in six people, please feel free to provide that infomation!). Now I am going to throw one out there and say that when there is a next terrorist attack you will link it to Barack Obama, even though you have spent years speculating about Bush, even though they are both polar opposites of each other, but that is what you guys do. So who cares if Mr Morris has links to Mr Mandelson, are you going to do some hunting and find he has links to Jesus as well, because im pretty sure he was using his fare share of hypnotic language back in his day.

The truth is I think if you talk to alot of people doing NLP they will be happy to explain what it is all about and not batter an eyelid if you dont agree with it, however if you start invesitgating them, bringing up how one of the founders was a coke addict and how the creator of a forum is a supposed satanist and a homosexual, then its gone from enquiring about NLP to personal insults. And Old associate people are aloud to have a girlfriend but then decide they prefer men, its called Bisexual, my friend is gay but he’s had a girlfriend in the past, its not a sign of dishonesty.

By the way please answer me this question, seeing I live in the UK and the Tavistock is the primary programming centre for the UK I live within a 100 miles radius of Tavistock, is this the reason I have a craving for Ben & Jerrys, do I need to move out of the 100 mile radius or shall I move to another country, because its starting to take a hold now?

And finally (sorry its a long post but ‘Life’ has done some mega posts so im thinking its ok). The notion that positive psychology is being brought into school, is that not a good thing when you consider that self harm in teenagers is on the rise, respect for elderly is declining and alcohol abuse is..well alot of young people use it. With positive psychology (and also NLP) the notion is to feel more POSITIVE about yourself, now im sure your all intelligent indiviudals so im sure you will know that you cant think a negative thought at the same time as a positive thought, so if children are taught to think positively about themselves, maybe…they are less likely to have a negative mindset about themselves and if you look at some of the most successful people in the world im willing to guess they have traits of positive thoughts and read about inspirational people….not read UK column.

So while I go away and attempt to better myself as a coach and all round person rather than invesitgate how the wardrope habits of leaders are being used as covert messages I thank you for your time and hope you all have a good rest of the day…see I have shown gratitude both at the start and end of my post and gratitude is taught alot in positive psychology…just imagine if school kids are ‘brainwashed’ into showing more gratitude in their lives, i shudder to think.

I can summarize your long and waffling post in the following sentence “what is wrong with spin?”…

I find it quite amusing that with no evidence whatsoever you manage to extrapolate what “us people” (interesting use of language there, much like the global warming fanatics) think about 9/11 (which for the most part is that the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, otherwise known as the military wing of the British banking and financial Empire), ran 9/11 for the express purpose of installing a FASCIST dictatorship in the United States, which they almost, but not quite, succeeded in doing.

People like you other other hand would rather spend your time “thinking positive” and clapping yourself and your fellow travelling idiot savants on the back about your latest gimmick for “technique” for “making the world a better place” while COMPLETELY IGNORING THE REALITY AROUND YOU.

Yes, that’s right, murdering 1 million Iraqis and untold numbers of civilians in Afghanistan, dropping two atomic bombs on Japan, the cold war, terror, economic oppression, torture, murder and genocide has all been GOOD for the world.

The problem with you is that you are incapable of understanding what is being done in your name while you sit there and lecture those of us who have done the hard work to take the lid off the faks constructed reality that we live in and have a good hard look at the EVIL that lies underneath.

The next phase of this EVIL will definitely wake you up, assuming you survive long enough to wipe the confused expression off your face when the jackboots arrive and start rounding people up, that is.

On legal advice, following communication from Chris Morris, I have taken down about 15 comments from this article.

Mr Morris does not wish his emails to be published, so I will abide by his wishes here.

What I will say is that Mr Morris alleged in his emails that comments from Mike Grossbard, Old associate, chichi, Phill, the structure, nlp traveller and Nick Kemp were all, in fact, written by Nick Kemp, who has apparently been a very busy man with nothing better to do than run around different internet connections making comments about Mr Morris.

Mr Morris objected to much of the content in the comments posted by these commentors, particularly to the allegations regarding falsification of professional qualifications, that his employment with Mr Mandelson was in a very junior capacity and his links to gay porn websites among others.

He very graciously admitted that my original article was fair enough.

Can I ask that anyone posting information on this matter in future make sure that backup documentation is sent to me. In the meantime, I have all the taken down comments and will be following up on them.
