Is it just me, or is this uncharacteristically dark and gloomy summer feeling like a rather apt metaphor for the dismal state of our nation? Just this past week alone, we have been subjected to a constant stream of ever more ominous and depressing news than I can recall in several years of life in this increasingly desperate Island.
For example, yesterday, we were treated to this happy picture by Chief European Economist Jonathan Loynes at Capital Economics:
“We have long been more concerned than most other forecasters over the outlook for the UK economy. But three developments in particular have made us even more worried.
“First, the news on the domestic economy has been worse than we anticipated…
“Second, the economy now looks set to receive less support from overseas than we had hoped… third, there is a growing danger that the downturn will be exacerbated by a contraction in bank lending to households and companies.”
Well stone my crows, the man must be a prophet. How does he do it? People usually pay good money for tarot cards this good.
Today we hear from John Hutton (principal architect of the increasingly spectacular New Labour “full spectrum economic fiasco”), that we will just have to live with the high cost of energy because any attempt to “windfall tax” the providers will simply be passed onto consumers in higher prices. Does anyone here even remember the good old days when our energy markets were regulated and prices therefore based on actual supply and demand, rather than the increasingly obscene profits of a few greedy financial speculators?
(Un)naturally, as always, the free market is as the free market does, and since we have created a politically sacrosanct system based on the notion of the survival of the fittest, we will now witness the consequences of these choices in the impoverishment and even death of our most vulnerable members of society this coming winter. But don’t worry, this “painful adjustment” is all part of the happy upward progress of the economy as the “stimulus of higher prices” translates into political action to increase supplies at an affordable rate. Us stout and hardy Brits will just have to take it with a stiff upper lip and a slightly bent posture, as always…
Well forgive my cynicism, but didn’t we already know we would be facing massive energy shortages over ten years ago and still nothing was done about it? And don’t “unforseen shortages” happily (for some) equate to massive profit gouging? And don’t the corporate energy lobbies play a major role in setting the relevant policy, along with their monolithic debt harvester banker chums and their allies in the raving mass of peat bog scientific luddites who insist that windmills and compost are the way of the future?
But all of this pales rapidly into insignificance when one takes a good look at the out-of-control clown show that is running our foreign policy. Spotty Marxist Miliband, permanently vacillating between an expression best described as shitting razorblades and the “swot at the back of the class who got promoted to prefect by snitching on all his classmates,” seems to have taken it upon himself (on behalf of millions of British people who have no idea where he and his particular brand of smarmy, self satisfied arrogance came from in the first place) to stick his grubby little fingers in the eye of a nuclear armed superpower, for daring to have the gall, the bald faced, outrageous temerity, to defend their citizens from mass genocide.
Excuse me, did I just wake up several miles above the earth, twisting and spinning in Dorothy’s nightmare, or has Alice’s mad hatter just run out of tea?
In truth, while madness and chaos envelops us all with the growing force of a hurricane, the ruling classes only seem to revel in the destruction and mayhem around them, the suffering and devastation that their decisions and policies are causing for decent, ordinary people. Make no mistake: we are witnessing the greatest phase change in economic and political affairs in living memory, as democracy and the rule of law are abrogated in favour of the outright tyranny of the privileged few.
Something can, and must be done about this. There is simply no further room for discussion or negotiation with deluded, megalomaniacal warmongers, intent on bankrupting our nation and thrusting us into perhaps the final, nuclear and biological hell of WW3. They must be confronted and humiliated at every possible opportunity and in every place throughout this nation. The time for talk is now over, the time for action here with a vengeance.
Over the coming weeks, the team at the UK Column will begin an organizing drive to marshal our forces for the political fight that we can and must now engage in with each and all of our elected, and non elected political figures.
No quarter will be asked or given in this war since civilisation and our very lives hang in the balance.

The alarm clock of the people always wakes then up a tad up too late to what has been staring them in the face for years.
Sure I am an angry man, and at boiling point with the way Britain is being run for the benefit of the few. Not angry because I want to simply be angry, just angry over the general stupid complacency of the nation who are failing to see what effects them. Even that could be OK for the general foottie page three boys, but I don’t want to see the next generation of babies born into the bondage of a Britain totally subservient to un undemocratic EU
I have said this more that once in many places, I am nothing special just an ordinary person with no aspirations for the political lime light at all. I merely comment these days in the hope of waking up, maybe inspiring others to do what I should have done 40 years–ie bring about a completely different concept of politics and government. By God I wish I had done so then instead of chasing my own self interests. Anyway as late as it is, I am happy to say that I have always been a thorn in some politicians side.
I knew Blair was con from the day he put a rather ineffectual Frank Dobson in charge of the NHS. I wrote and told him so, and despite getting the odd usual Downing Street nothingness of an acknowledgement, my worthy comments went unnoticed in direct relation to the increasing various failures that I had outlined.
I warned Blair over the folly of invading Iraq and the potential of inciting Islam to retaliate. British foreign policy in the Mid-East/Islam lands has always been one of invade, meddle, create a mess and leave. In leaving a mess we have created many an unresolvable situation. Yet an intelligent browse over the writings of T.E. Lawrence would have proven most enlightening to the so called expects and dumbaresed politicians such as Blair, and in most probability had they the ability to learn and digest, led to a much safer world today!
One thing is certain like the eminent Hans Blick, this boy from the Rhondda made it his business to learn more about, and probably knows more about, the truth of the situation than Blair and his chimp like cabinet ever did. Which is why I can openly call from him to be immediately arrested and tried for his war crimes–then locked away for good in the best interest of public safety, as obviously he remains a dangerous menace while free. (We now have the arrest of people who have threatened to kill both Blair and Brown. Perhaps you can see why I would rather see them legally arrested and tried, as what if many other Muslims want to take a pop at then both, surely that would endanger all innocent lives in the vicinity––-Yep best lock the bastards up so we can all life in safety!)
But this wont happen as the public are simply not interested.
So now onto the current cloud of doom, and yes its easy to say I told you so. But I did!

One to be called what ever you want it to be, but something Gracious and Inspiring, like the Magna Carta Revival Coalition, names can mean so much and create an essential sense of belonging…… Then someone like Brian Garrish perhaps could lead as a commander with responsibility for millions of loyal true UK citizens all with an aim with a goal of a re alignment of the outmoded defunct current principles of government and in doing so keeps the message simple and consistent.
And its so easy to do people believe me, as running a country is little different from running any organization. The principle is to put in place clear, concise operating principles and simplify what your operating mission is. Then really ensure to pick the right people under the leader to deal with the implementation of those new clearly defined initiatives. Then to ensure regular “pep†talks, inspirational firesides chat that works so well for Roosevelt in times of great need, asking always–––- is what I’m saying getting to you, and do you understand the importance of our policies being communicated to the nation effective and with their support–-the people that is!
Also we have an army out there, just sitting by and fed up of being crushed and dejected. An army with such a wealth of talent, that the realising of its true potential would send shivers through any government!

Likewise, first of all I should like to express my happiness that we have stimulated some response and debate here and hope that this will continue as we increase our efforts to improve and update this website over the coming weeks.
Secondly, some clarifications:
1. England ofcourse does not represent the entire UK, and as an Englishman I do not pretend to be speaking on behalf of Scotland and Wales who I know have their issues with this union. For my part, I think we should be sticking together and fighting the common enemy, for if Scotland does indeed break away and join the EU as a sovereign state in their own right, England is done for as we cannot stand alone. Also, I was in Scotland at the fringe last week and the skies were blue and sunny, so just reporting on the weather as much as anything
2. Our problems are not because of “jews” and we simply must elevate this debate to a higher level if we are going to get anywhere rather than spend all our time arguing about who is responsible for our troubles. We know that the entire political class is morally (and I would now argue, economically) bankrupt, and I could care less if they are Jews, Muslims, Hindus or any other ethnic group - what we need to be doing is mobilizing from the ground up around solutions and stay focused on the outcomes we want, not fighting amongst ourselves on religious or ethnic lines - which is precisely what the ruling classes want us to do.
3. We are all fighting a common enemy, which is world government. As such, the enemy is not comprised of any particular race, gender or political affiliation, but megalomaniacal, self serving parasites who prefer to have arbitrary power over, rather than brotherly love, for their fellow men and women. For all that, we can identify certain economic interests, based primarily in the financial centers of the world, and drawing their power from private, independent central banking systems, as the main source of our problems throughout history. If we are going to defeat this enemy, we must defeat their economic system as a first order of business.
4. We are running out of time because the enemy’s economic system has in effect already defeated itself as evidenced by the ongoing, total systemic breakdown crisis that we are now living through. As such, the world faces a stark choice between revolution against that system, and the establishment of a new system based on principles that will defend people first OR a descent into total fascism and a new dark age on a global scale (or, as some have pointed out, in the age of nuclear and biological weapons, species annihilation).
5. We must not get fixated on what will happen if we fail, but the world we are fighting for on the other side of this crisis. While it is hard to remain optimistic in the face of such stark choices, we must remember that the crisis itself is the opportunity in which we can make sudden, and dramatic changes for the better, if the right leadership and political pressure can be mobilized from the population.

Dear Readers,
I have grown more and more concerned about the people of your island as events have gone forward from “Chaos,” to “Catastrophe,” in the world. I am an American, and from New England and we share the same roots in our culture, laws, and way of life. To see the sturdy Common Law of the Anglo-Saxon under such utter contempt in England is a dire warning to us who also base our rights upon such Law. To a woman love means power, to a man enslavement. Love provides woman with an excuse for financial exploitation, man with an emotionally charged excuse. “For the sake of love†woman will do things that are of advantage only to herself, while man does only things that will harm him. When a woman marries, she gives up her career “for the sake of love.†When a man marries, he will have to work for two “for the sake of love.†For both sexes, love is a fight for survival. But the one survives by being victorious, the other only by being defeated. It is a paradox that women can also make their greatest gains during moments of utter passivity and that the word “love†endows them with a halo of selflessness, even at the moment of their most pitiless deception of man.
As a result of “love,†man is able to hide his cowardly self-deception behind a smoke screen of sentiment. He is able to make himself believe that his senseless enslavement to women and her hostages is more than an act of honor, it has a higher purpose. He is entirely happy in his role as a slave and has arrived at the goal he has so long desired. Since woman gains nothing but one advantage after another from the situation as it stands today, things will never change. The system forces her to be corrupt, but no one is going to worry about that. Since one can expect nothing from a woman but love, it will remain the currency for any need she might have. Man, her slave will continue to use his energies only according to his conditioning and never to his own advantage. He will achieve greater goals and the more he achieves, the farther women will become alienated from him. The more he tries to ingratiate himself with her, the more demanding she will become; the more he desires her, the less she finds him desirable; the more comforts he provides for her, the more indolent, stupid and inhuman she will become – and man will grow lonelier as a result.
Only woman can break the vicious circle of man’s manipulation and exploitation – but she will not do it. There is absolutely no compelling reason why she should. It is useless to appeal to her feelings, for she is callous and knows no pity. I read this article, and the coments thereon, with great interest.
The rot, I think, goes wide and deep. Well John you have identified some good points and the problems we face as most here today have. Also the need for urgency in these matters is now barkingly obvious.
We are deep into a situation of total un-sustainability and something, I am not quite sure yet as to exactly what, will have to give.
I just wonder where all the good and true men of quality for the right leadership and political pressure can be found let alone mobilized from the population.
The task ahead will require more than strength and tenacity, but also the ability to ensure a series fixed programmes of certainty that we will “NEVER” make the same continuing mistakes again.
Then of course we all have to be realistic over the billions of surplus human beings on this planet that we cant feed now and are set to double which causes a real urgent catastrophe for the very existence of the human race.
Assuming that there is no Divine intervention between now and then, there are going to be some awful amounts of deep soul searching for the Christian communities. Will we face a survival of the fittest situation which will mean the survival of the strongest and that of course means those with the most military hardware toys will dominate or will we be forced into blowing our silly selves to hell long before we really no to….. It would be sad, so very sad to concede to the much mooting theory that perhaps a Master Race is much better than no race at all. But I guess that is the stage we have reached now!

I liked your article but I dont see what can be done short of bloody revolution.
I was at the great march in London 2003 when 2 million fellow Brits protested against a war with Iraq. I remember Tony Blair fled to Scotland that day and even appealed (begged) on television for people not to attend the march. The atmosphere was absolutely electric. A sea of peaceful protestors as far as the eye could see, like the most gigantic carnival of all races, creeds and ages. I remember talking to this elderly African guy who said, with tears welling in his eyes, “this is history!”.
But it didn’t stop the bastards. They made it quite clear they didnt give a damn what we thought, “shut up and pay your taxes”. They even staged terrorist attacks to justify tearing up our civil rights. Now they can jail you for months without any reason whatsoever. They ’suicided’ critics like Dr Kelly and the Police Chief investigating the rendition flights out of the UK, found dead in suspicous circumstances that were never properly investigated.
And how about that poor Brazilian lad chased on to a busy Underground train, held down and shot 8 times in the back of the head at point blank in front of horrified commuters.
I got sick of the site of sinister para-military police armed with the very lastest automatic machine pistols, riot sticks, tazars, police dogs sniffing at you in the tube stations. The hysterical and manufactured ‘islamophobia’ sweeping the UK, a nation I once considered liberal and multi-cultured.
I couldnt believe it could get so bad and yet hear so little protest from the people, indeed many I spoke to were all for it. I remembered those 2 million protestors and it occurred to me that had we been armed we would have been the biggest army on earth and we could simply taken over government there and then. It’s a pity we didnt, given what has come to pass since.
But each protest afterwards got smaller and smaller as the media wormed its way into peoples heads and spread its fear and hatred. I’ve seen movies like “Children of Men” or “V for Vendetta” and recognized that they dont really appear very fictional. I felt I was in an isolated minority for believing that the system is terribly wrong and without a “V” to rally us together and tear down the establishment, we would all just be targets for this junta that calls itself a government.
In the end I had enough with Cruel Britannia and decided I’d rather live overseas and say goodbye to my family who sadly believe the fairy tales the media tell them. The same media that Dante’s Hell will need a new level to accomodate for their treason to the British people.

I have to put my hand up as I am one that has be stating that a revolution would be the only way left open to BRITAIN.
AS TIME ROLLED BYE AND THE PROBLEMS INCREASED WITH DIRECT PROPORTION TO GROWING ANGER GENERATED FORM THE RACK AND FILE, IT BECAME INCREASINGLY OBVIOUS TO ME THAT GOVERNMENT WAS OUT OF CONTROL SIMPLY LOOKING AFTER ITS SELF AND THOSE WHO WILLING DO ITS BIDDING OVER THE INTERESTS OF THE NATION.
I listened intensely to the Rivers of Blood speech of Enoch Powell. I eliminated the racial stuff for obvious good reason,( life is tough on us all no matter what overcoat was chosen for us to wear), and dug deeper into the substance of Mr Powell’s words and the theme is there alright, an indolent government bureaucracy, simply not listening to the rank and file need of the nation.
My further research has clear, beyond any doubt whatsoever revealed just how deep rooted the rot in the UK is and its getting deeper furthered by the self interests of those committed to the evils of Common Purpose.
Over the past, lets just call it ten years, (it’s a lot longer), I have tried, dutifully, to reason with the establishment, and two of their major police forces and law administrative agencies over the better option of being just rather than adhering corrupt system and its oppressive laws. Well people you can believe me or not the great Britain system is now too far gone for any sort of sensible compromise between the government and the people, or as one ignorant chap in parliament aptly put it US and THEM, which incidentally was the tone used by the late EU president when referring to Brussels and the Irish No vote on the Treaty of Lisbon.
I further believe that the government Britain are at last waking up to the real danger that they are actually facing from a general uprising as they have squeezed the people too hard and for too long.
This really hit home to me last year in Cardiff airport when as the previous poster rightly identified, armed police were everywhere, and armed with the latest automatic machine guns–-In Cardiff airport for heaven’s sake.
This is really a sign of the times and sign of how the manufactured threat of a terror attack has been used to train and arm the police who will as they did with the miners, be happy to turn on friend, friend family and foe alike, only now fully armed.–––-Considering all things, we now see the truth behind all the so call ant-terror measures. Therefore my friends when the bubble finally bursts, our long over due revolution will be one bathed, I regret to opine, in blood. I have no doubt of this. The status quo have too much to lose, and we the people have so much to gain back no to fight for it.
The revolutionary battle will be a hard fought one and it will have to be conclusive, there can be no quarter given, as this time the fight has to be complete. One that will ensure a people’s victory, and one that will set in motion a lasting fair system full of fair checks and balances and one in which any abuse of public office or duties will be a capital offence, a crime against the new British constitution, with stringent accountability to the nation and the most dire of consequence for any violators thereof.
But more in due course. Meanwhile my friends please consider the following, which really does annoy me as its all stuff I forewarned about almost from the start of the New Labour Disaster. According to a leaked Government document which is now warning that the UK’s economic downturn will result in more crime and illegal immigration, along with a rise in extremism. It deems that the Home Office is due to deliver the stark assessment to Prime Minister Gordon Brown amid fears that Britain is heading for recession. It now appears the there is finally an admission that the potential for an increase in violent offences due to the credit crunch and soaring food prices is a reality and that so too is an increased public hostility to migrants” as competition for jobs stiffens and people question the financial assistance they receive.
There is no indeed and established risk of a downturn increasing the appeal of far-right extremism and racism, which presents a threat as there is evidence that grievances based on experiencing racism are one of the factors that can lead to people becoming terrorists.”
The Whitehall document prepared after Gordon Brown ordered Whitehall departments to report on how the slowdown would affect them clearly demonstrates what we know, and what people like me, and many here have been trying to hammer home to the public for ages and that is––– that ministers had been “complacent”. You have said what I have been saying for years now, since the 1980s, the time when I finally grew up and started thinking about the rest of the world around me, not just my small tiny sham of a life; the time when I finally became a mum and had to consider the way society was so that I could teach my children how to react. I was surprised then at how much things had changed since I was a child and I am even more surprised at the way our society has been dumbed down whilst its benefits have been squandered and abused by all in power.
I have known we were bankrupt for some time now and was not surprised at the so-called credit crunch. I am now on the lowest income I have had for many years and have to manage, and am returning to old ways of doing things which are not only cheaper but better all round. It is time we all woke up to the damage that has been and is still being done.
I too know that democracy no longer exists in the UK, and I too accept that England is not the whole of the UK, or even Great Britain. Nor is the England most people talk about existing within most of the modern English borders. The North East for example, is the poorest of all the English regions, and we don’t have the same ideals, language, or desires as the south east, nor the money!
But Great Britain does have a heart that if roused will beat in all of the people of the island. It is time we all stood up and was counted, but we have been encouraged to become a nation of cowards - cowed by so-called terror; cowed by continual surveillance; cowed by innefectual law enforcement; cowed into believing we have to put up with the worst living and environment standards in Europe whilst paying the most money; cowed into believing in political correctness as the answer to all our problems when the reality is that we need common sense. Yet, common sense also brings about a common thought, and the powers that be plus those behind them don’t want the people of this island to have any common thought at all, unless it is the present political correctness which is going to destroy us all whilst telling us it is to benefit all. It destroys all those who care and are tolerant whilst claiming to help them. Not only spin, but completely opposite to the so-called spirit of political correctness - and as incompetent as our politicians!!
It is time people woke up to the truth of what is happening, but I think people are now so frightened, so cowed, that they cannot face that awful truth - the truth that the trust they placed in politicians and the like has been abused resulting in pain and sufferance.

There are some specific posts that I need to respond to directly as I feel they are leading up up the wrong path.
1. All at the UK Column deplore violence of any sort and in no way support or condone it except strictly for self defense. There may come a time where Tiannemen Sq style tanks vs flags becomes necessary, and speaking for myself, if this country ever falls to that level of evil, I would rather go out with a bullet than in a gulag.
2. Civil disobedience, if appropriately organized, and implemented, would do just aswell as any violent confrontation with our “security services”, and this is where I think we need to focus our efforts and thinking.
3. It is absolutely wrong to claim that there is a “surplus population” on this planet. There is a deficit in economic distribution, and a collapsing level of development, that MUST be addressed, but not by malthusian policies - which is precisely what the EU intends to do to us.
4. As one poster alluded to, there is a need for specific programs of long term stability, that will prevent the type of looting and corruption that we have been subjected to in recent years. This is the crux of the issue. We must move away from the system of international usury and speculation that is at the core of our problems and return to a fixed exchange rate system, based on a protectionist model. Nothing less than a new international credit system is required IMMEDIATELY, before the collapse of the presently bankrupt monetary system takes us all to hell with it in it’s death throes.
5. The UK, or more appropriately the city of London, as the center of this system, is going to get hit first, and hit hardest by the collapse process, followed swiftly by other nations which fall to direct political control by agents of the London money power. This is the cause of the war in Georgia, which future historians will document as the opening shot of WW3. For the studiers of occult numerology amongst us, note that this occured on 08/08/08. We have reason to suspect that 13/10 is the next date for a major event of some kind.

After America gained its independence during the Revolutionary War, its relations with Britain were often strained at best. This was especially true when the British went to war with France starting in 1793. The British began to blockade many European ports in order to cut off American neutral shipping to France. Jefferson and Madison, the presidents during this period, tried to use economic coercion on England, and a number of measures were passed limiting American trade with the British. The most extreme measure taken was the Embargo Act of 1807, which made it illegal to ship anything across the Atlantic, limiting ship traffic to the coastal variety only. This act was repealed a year later without the British having taken much notice. The British refused to change their policies, and a strong pro-war movement began to build in the United States, known usually as the War Hawk movement. This movement not only favored the American right to ship products and people without losing them all to British confiscation, but they also had other grievances with the British. They believed that the British were inciting natives around the Great Lakes (who had grievances regarding their claims to land in the American West that the United States had not addressed) to attack Americans and that Britain represented a major threat to the concept of republican government. There was also a certain amount of discussion about conquering Canada and making it into an American territory in order to reduce British influence in North America and also to expand the United States. Support for the war was not universal in the legislature by any stretch of the imagination, being limited primarily to young lawmakers of the Democratic-Republican party from the West and South, opposed by Federalists from New England whose constituency depended on trans-Atlantic trade that would be severely hurt by war with England. There were even riots in Baltimore during the summer between the two sides that didn’t really end until September. Although divided on the subject, America still declared war on Britain and its Indian allies on June 18, 1812.
The first year of the war went horribly for the Americans. They had planned to invade Canada from three directions: along Lake Champlain, north from Detroit, and near Niagara. The Detroit offensive backfired badly, and Detroit itself was made to surrender to Britain on August 18th. The Americans were then defeated at the Niagara front in October, and American invasion forces at Lake Champlain withdrew without even engaging Britain. The naval war went a bit better. The American ship Constitution defeated the British Guerriere in August, followed by the American capture by the United States of the British Macedonian. The Constitution also defeated the British ship Java off the coast of Brazil. Unfortunately, in spite of these victories and successful forays by American privateers against British ships, the British blockaded the American coast and were able to raid it at their leisure.
In 1813, the Canadian invasion went a little bit better with American victories at the Battle of the Great Lakes and the Battle of the River Thames in Canada, but the Americans were still frustrated in their attempts to gain a real foothold. Things got worse in 1814, though, when France began to crumble, allowing the British to devote more of their formidable resources to crushing the American forces. Although the Americans repelled British advances from Canada at the Battles of Chippawa and Lundy’s Lane, they were unable to successfully defend Washington itself, which the British occupied in August. As other authors have noted, the British burning of the public buildings of the city is the reason why the White House was renamed as such. America was generally in a bad way, with the British blockade strangling the economy, the U.S. public credit collapsed, the leadership ousted from its capital, and New England Federalists becoming more and more vocally opposed to the war. America needed victories, and it was lucky enough to get them. The British army occupying Washington was successfully driven from Baltimore when they tried to invade, and another British invasion force was routed at the Battle of Plattsburg Bay as it tried to invade along Lake Champlain. It has been said that this defeat was the one that made the British tire of the war, since they were made to believe that reconquering America would be impossible. The two countries had been negotiating a peace settlement in Ghent, Belgium, and it was signed on Christmas Eve of 1814. Word of the treaty did not reach America for quite some time, however, and Andrew Jackson had led his army to a crushing victory over the British at New Orleans by the time it did. Because Americans heard about the war ending and Jackson’s victory at the same time, the two events were conflated innacurately, leading to Americans thinking that they had won a war that had in fact been stopped primarily due to the British losing interest.

Too harsh by far, David, too harsh.
As a British ex-pat living on the Canadian border with the US, I can tell you that there is a deep sense of affection and connection with Britain among many ordinary Americans. Many are also eager to tell you of their forebears who came over from ‘the Old Country’, and for many of them England is still that historic ‘green and pleasant isle, set in a silver sea’ which they hope to visit themselves someday.
Heck, I sometimes think that PBS (American public television) is the last loyal British colony - it’s so crammed with fine British programming!
Don’t make the mistake of confusing the stresses and rare immaturity of a young Republic with the relationships which exist between the two peoples today. The first Americans were Englishmen abroad, and they were driven to revolt by the oppressive and foolish policies of the King’s ministers. They’ve never forgotten their English roots, but it often seems as though we for our part have never forgiven them for having successfully rebelled against us.
It’s true that you can still get a lot of Americans fired up by talking about 1776 and the American revolution, and a kind of obligatory anti-British, ‘anti-Redcoat’ attitude appears out of nowhere, but individually they are some of the kindest, hospitable and generous people on earth. It’s not their fault that the military-industrial complex seized control of their country years ago, that their politicians are largely puppets, and that their media is a branch of the Department of Propaganda - wherever you travel in the US of A, their basic decency still shines through. And doesn’t a similar situation prevail in the modern UK, too?
Brits love to point to gun crime in America without remembering how artfully they themselves were disarmed by their political masters, but thank goodness in a world of creeping totaliarianism that ordinary Americans cling fast to their right to keep and bear arms. While they’re free, you’ll remain free.
And Britons are just as sick of the criminal Iraq and Afghan wars as their American cousins - and bear equal responsibility for them.
Canadians are a different breed - British, European and American in intermingled influences and attitudes. But even we don’t understand the Americans! Canadian society was profoundly shaped by the exodus to Canada of many of the old loyalist Puritan families from the eastern American colonies after the Revolution. Thy came because of a profound attachment to King and Country, or because of a reaction against what they saw as the ungoverned excesses of Democracy, and they brought with them the strong Puritan sense of community, of caring for the weaker in the community, which successfully transplanted itself into the new Dominion. So American attitudes and society seem occasionally harsh to us, but we still recognize and appreciate that there is very much that is admirable in everyday America and in ordinary Americans. We like them.
We are still two peoples tied together by a common past and joined together still in the present. We have very much in common with each other, and always will have, and the surface differences and irritations aside, there is still a strong sense of kinship.
Among those Americans who have awakened to the present danger, you couldn’t want for more clear-sighted and courageous allies and for firmer friends. May their numbers steadily increase!
And may they never find equal and warm-hearted friendship lacking in their British cousins because of ancient disagreements, lingering envy, or spite.

I am greatly concerned at the choice of Barack Obama as the Democratic Nominee for President, and even more so about the McCain/Palin ticket.
It is now up to the American people to fight from the ground up to reform their party systems and ensure that in the worst case scenario, a deadlock between a Democratic Congress and Republican Executive, can see us through another four years without a descent into a world war.
For all that said, I pray that America comes through this crisis restored to the nation we all looked up and aspired to as children. The world is an infinitely darker place without her leadership and strength.

So what we have is in fact a very small minority group of actual British descendants favourable disposed to this old country. With many, the Irish for example still carrying a deep rooted hatred of the redcoats– There is no need to dwell on that point.
All I will concede that given the general standard of US television it is little wonder that PBS is rather popular, although it’s a shame that a lot of prime viewing time is taken up with pledge gathering.

Well I lived close to Tampa and most people there had never even heard of London!!
South of Tampa if you don’t speak Spanish and English you don’t work, it’s a simple as that.
I think it was in 86 when Bob Martinez, fine chap he was too, was Governor held a referendum on what would be the official language of the State of Florida: it was by a whisper the Spanish came second.
We had a few toys when there, and one was a custom motor home which we used to travel all over the Southern States and up to California. I was surprised to find that most, and I mean most, that I spoke to did not even know about Britain, Europe or world events!.– Of course you get more enlightenment in California, Washington DC, and New York, where you will find most British influences.
We were in Texas when Ron bombed Libya and most we spoke to there thought Libya was in South America.
Same is true of both world wars, where the majority of the rank and file US military did not know what they were fighting for, who they were fight, where they were fighting and why they were fighting. Sad but true and just show that wars are political’s wars and rarely people’s wars.
Anyway the concept of their great comradery with our transatlantic cousins is in all honesty a myth and mainly down to the part American, drunken warmongering shinanikins of Churchill, who found his long searched for niche and calling, when not cavorting and playing cowboys with Wanner Baxter, in the Senate House. Even President Roosevelt was wary of Churchill.

However as for supporting Britain, Canada sent a contingent to the second South African War (the Boer War, 1899–1902), and in World War I landed its first contingent in Britain on 16 October 1914. However, the issue of supporting Britain in both these wars caused further divisions between French†and English speaking Canadians. The former favoured isolationism and the latter an active pro British policy, and this division was exacerbated by the introduction of conscription in 1917. In World War I, Canadian troops fought in the Second Battle of Ypres, at St Julien, Festubert, Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, Passchendaele, the Somme, and Cambrai, among other engagements. During the period of the war the Houses of Parliament in Ottawa were destroyed by fire (February 1916), and there was a disastrous munitions explosion at Halifax, Nova Scotia (December 1917) some claim it was the Canadian French opposition to aiding Britain…who knows? Who really cares?
All I set out to do is to is to clearly demon start that all in the garden is not as rosy as some would have you believe. And in any event have we not all be fed enough misinformation by the shovelful?
Now it us it real and it’s a free Britain under attack from the evil of Common Purpose a blight instigated by Brussels to Bring Britain quietly into the EU fould completely, to absorb us and dismember all that was great about the once proud nation.

The problem with your analysis is that it ignores the almost complete control of the US political process by financial interests tied to the city of London. For example, the Obama campaign was run by interests associated with George Soros, the famous offshore (Cayman Islands British Crown Protectorate) hedge fund speculator.
The actual demographics of the US population are more or less irrelevant in what is a highly elitist political system at this juncture.
As such, for the time being, America is going to do whatever the British establishment wants them to, which, right now appears to be to get themselves involved in a Eurasian war with Russia and China.
When the real shit hits the fan, no doubt Americans will jutifully don their uniforms just as they did in the last world war and go fight to defend those who started the war in the first place, ignorant of the bigger issues involved.
At the end of the day, assuming the United States is still around as a sovereign nation state (and there is some doubt about that given the level of interference in their political process from outside forces - which are directly responsible for the economic and social effects you describe), there will always be a force on the planet willing to defend this, and other nations, as this is the fundamental mission to which all true Americans consecrate their lives.
THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, etc…
The alternative ofcourse is that America capitulates to the fascist forces who are pulling out all the stops in this push for world government, the return of the Empire, and the disintegration of global civilization.

I was dealing with the subject of the romantic views of a special relationship, which of course given the demography facts I supplied, if there is indeed a special relationship then it is a very small one, and scared only to a minute sector of US society.
I tried to keep the subject focused on that and as said in my email to you––viz “There are so many conspiracy theories around that it would take several generations to sift through them all.â€
So that would be a pointless exercise.
In these matters it is best to stick with known and provable facts. Conspiracy theories, what ever they may be are so difficult to get a grip one.

Seems a some people disagree with what I post in that I call for unity in organising and form a brand new concept political party. I get the impression that some people simply want to “freed†under common law (which in my opinion they know the least about) and carry on life as “hippies†with no thought for an on going infrastructure that will support social service for the elderly, sick and needed, no schools, roads, trains bridges etc, which I think they believe will all maintain themselves.
Unless the people of Britain can organise en-mass, to oppose the current obvious constitutional abuses, and the dread of Common Law, and even the EU (if you don’t want to be in it), the government will continue to walk all over you as it did in the signing of the Treaty of Lisbon.
Sure we have one or two voice crying in the wilderness, and few seminars here and there, but seriously do you think the government will take that as a serious threat to their policies?–-Like hell they will–-there have been minority objectors as long as there have been governments.
And don’t think for one moment that you will bring about change through showing how naughty government has been in not applying constitutional law as they should have, give them a smack on the wrist and hope all will be well tomorrow––- as it bloody well wont be. They have abused constitutional law because it suits them to do so and they now they are not accountable.––When John Harries took his affidavits to the House of Lords, as is his constitutional right to do so, they literally laughed at him as they showed him the door that the contempt the power based in this country has for the people of the nation!
